Check the current TBS route for your goods and origin
The Tanzania Bureau of Standards import-control service publishes PVoC information, regulated-code material and inspection-provider details. Use the current documents with your clearing agent and inspection provider to check the proposed engine lines before shipment. A notice covering used vehicles or exports from a particular country does not automatically establish the treatment of used engines exported from China.
Send the proposed description, used or refurbished condition, petrol or diesel configuration, country of export and draft classification. Ask which certificate, inspection or approval is required, who applies, where assessment takes place and when documents must be available. Record the reply with the order file rather than relying on a verbal “no problem.”
Separate destination from discharge port
If the agreed discharge port is Dar es Salaam, also name the final delivery destination. Cargo intended for sale in Tanzania and cargo intended for onward transit should be discussed separately with the broker. Ask the agent to confirm the correct clearance or transit procedure, importer identity and any supporting documents before freight is booked.
Your transport quotation should identify the movement covered: ocean freight only, delivery to a terminal, or an onward road leg. Obtain the terminal and container-return deadlines from the responsible forwarder. Do not turn a tentative sailing estimate into a promised arrival date for your customers.
Make your packing record useful at both ends
- Assign a readable identifier to each accepted engine and record the code beside it.
- List engine assemblies, separate accessories and used gearboxes clearly.
- Agree fluid handling, leak prevention and protective packing with the forwarder.
- Record actual package totals, gross weight and dimensions for freight planning.
- Retain readable label photos and the final loading record.
Use the final packing list to reconcile the order, invoice and shipping instructions. If wood packaging is proposed, ask your forwarder to confirm the applicable treatment and marking requirements for the destination. Do not assume that an attractive product photo proves either the condition of a selected unit or the suitability of its transport packing.
Review remotely or arrange a Guangzhou warehouse visit
LSVANT provides supervised video and numbered photo records for selected units, with progress updates at least every five days during preparation. The evidence lets you check identity, visible condition and agreed accessories before dispatch. Preparation includes cleaning and manual crankshaft rotation; these are not compression measurements, bench tests or running tests.
You may also arrange a Guangzhou warehouse visit. The confirmed visit deposit is US$500 for a first-order visit involving 10–40 engines, or US$1,000 for a container order, credited toward the 30% initial payment. The visit date is confirmed within 24 hours after receipt; the agreed batch is prepared within 10 working days. Hotel-to-warehouse pickup and a dedicated visual-inspection area are provided. There is no on-site measuring equipment.
Keep acceptance and receiving responsibilities clear
Confirm the selected units and unresolved issues before the 70% balance payment. Ask your agent to check required certificates and draft shipping documents at the same time. On arrival, count packages, inspect visible transport damage and preserve identification records before installation. Send any claim with the unit identifier and supporting evidence under the written warranty terms.
With more than 20 years of industry experience and customers in over 50 countries, LSVANT supports international wholesale sourcing. The right next step is a destination-specific inquiry, not an assumption that every country follows the same inspection route.
Tanzania shipment questions
Does a notice for Japan automatically apply to China?
No. Check the current goods, origin and programme scope with TBS or its appointed provider and your agent.
Can I mix engines and gearboxes?
Discuss the mix with us, but have the agent check each goods line. Packing, classification and conformity requirements may differ.
